Warranty
I have what I think is a pretty simple warranty. Southard Knives are guaranteed for life. Should your knife fail at any time due to faulty workmanship or materials, such defects, will be made good at Southard Knives Cost. This warranty does not cover normal wear, damage caused by neglect, or lack of necessary user maintenance disassembly or end user modification of the tool. This means if you decided to “pimp” or modify the knife in any way, the warranty is void. I stand behind my work, but I cant be held responsible for work done by others.
Refurbishment or “Spa”
After years of offering refurbishments, and spa services to repair cosmetic damage cuased my neglect or normal wear and tear. I have chosen to suspend all services. The process is simply to time consuming and cost-ineffective. This includes both Performance series knives, as well as customs. Use, and enjoy your knife.
Modifications
I will not modify or change parts for an existing knife.
Sharpening
I recommend everyone that owns or uses knives, learn to sharpen knives. A simple way to maintain the current edge is to simply strop the knife after use. The use of a system like the Spyderco Sharpmaker are also excellent ways to help repair a damaged or dulled edge.
Care
I do not recommend taking apart your knife for any reason. Some knives may have small loose ball bearings that are easily lost, or difficult to reassemble. As well, many knives have specific order of operations to reassemble correctly. Occossaionaly a knife may need to have its pivot screw adjusted, wither to make the tension more to your liking, or just loosening up after years of use. I reccommend very small adjustments to the pivot screw till you find the desired tension. If you have specific questions on your knife, feel free to email me at info@southardknives.com.
To clean your knife often just a rinse under warm water with dish soap is all thats needed. Wash any gunk or pocket lint that may have built up out from the inside of the knife. Then carefully dry the entire knife. I HIGHLY recommend using compressed air to blow out the inside of the knife afterwords to remove all moisture. This will help avoid any corrosion issues. Then reapply some point to the pivot area, and detent ball track. I recommend and use Nano Oil, or nearly any gun lubrication product. Use oil sparingly, excess oil tends to collect dust and grime, which just means you have to clean it again sooner.
